Synopsis

The movie begins with a song playing, we see the overly confident Guy McKenzie running around his house getting ready, looking at himself in the mirror, kissing it himself. The idea behind this is that we see a comedic side to the character, helping us to get drawn in, before we see a dark side of his world, were he is attacked by the police.
The next sequence is shown to us through non diagetic text to be in 1997, he is in the cinema watching L.A Confidential, through a voice over we hear the character aspiring to be a police officer one day. This scene then cuts to a scene in a bar, we see Guy holding a glass of martini, he is downing them so quickly the bartender makes comments under his breath. The bell above the door rings and in walks Stella Artiana who sits the table directly opposite to him. She looks at him strongly and through montage we see them get to know each other.
We are taken into Stella life, she talks him to a pub and they go the long way, almost like a maze, once they get inside it is cabaret dancers and this time drinking wine with Stella. We see them both leaving the club only for Guy to see one of the men he once put in prison. The man pushes Stella to the ground and puts Guy in his car.
The car journey is very long, all we see is Guy over the shoulder of a gangster, with two body guards either side of him. They reveal to him that one of the 'boys from downtown has got into some trouble' they need a bit of help been left of murder charges and need Guy to pull a few strings. Guy is then thrown out of the car onto the curb, hitting his head violently.
The next scene is Guy in the hospital bed, with Stella by his side, he has lost his memory from the night before and when asked to give a statement to the police, he tells them he remembers nothing apart from the bar.
A week of recovery passes and he gets a call from an unknown number telling him that Stella has been taken away, and he won't see her again because he never did as he said he would do. I.E. help out a friend. He gets there and he recieves another phone call saying "have you done it yet." Guy walks up to Stella with his knife to untie her hands. She is still unconscious so he calls an ambulance.
Stella refuses to give her statement to the police telling anybody what happens, meaning that the antagonist gets away with his crimes.
